Hello ! I tested your builder (Le Patron) just now! :)

Some days are more pleasant than others...Last night, as I was about to close my email box to take care of my monsters, I had the good surprise to receive a message from Christine with the following subject "Hello! I tested your builder just now! 🙂 "

Christine has been following the Badsender blog since 3/24/2017, she is a loyal reader. Several days ago, after reading this articleshe asked to test our email builder: The Boss. After a few exchanges, we gave her access to the demo area. And without being asked, Christine was kind enough to give us her feedback on the spot. So : A big THANK YOU Christine, it's thanks to this constructive feedback that we're able to move forward and improve our tools and services!

Hello 🙂
Oh but what a surprise. Thanks for the link to your demo area! From my first test coolI can tell you that I managed to "get the hang of it" in 10 minutes. Really. This message took me the longest :-D. You can congratulate the people who designed the tool. I am conquered!

So I was quick to congratulate Gregory Van Gilsen for his talents of integration and parameterization, Thomas Defossez for the nice design of the blocks and our client Kenza, from Prismashop for having given us her agreement to show a part of her template.

WHICH IS TOP +++ :
- Pleasant, airy, intuitive interface.
- The choice of blocks! We get an exhaustive variety of blocks thanks to your proposals.
- The title of the blocks: clear and understandable by the majority I think.
- Really INTUITIVE handling and so fast that it is confusing.
- You are not afraid to add elements like video or background images, even if it doesn't work everywhere!
- User-friendly fill-in texts (for the people behind the screen, it humanizes the tool quite a bit)
- The menu of "action" typologies (blocks / style / content) is obvious - why didn't others think of it?
- Reorganize the block order with the hover menu directly on the flow, it's so practical (duplicate / delete...).
- The GALLERY of templates + the system of arrangement of images. It's beautiful :') you can see at a glance what is part of the templates at the most "specific".
- The styles can be modified on the fly. For the uninitiated - also - it is very readable.
- "Theme colors!" Although I haven't figured out how to create a theme in such a short time, it's TOP for sticking to graphic charts without having to think about hex codes.
- Direct selection via the block menu: I explain. Clicking on the template block on the left, and find it in the assembly flow: very practical!

Christine also gave us a list of negative points. We responded to each point.

The minuses... : (to be taken with pinches the test having been very expeditious!) and frankly had to dig for "the minuses" ^^
- Quick choice of the positioning of the buttons / images (left - center - right) it could have been directly via the block menu - although it makes sense to have placed this option in "style" - it confused me for some reason... did other builders give me bad habits?

Badsender In the demo example, we have chosen not to multiply the blocks on the left and to choose the positioning of the elements as options. Afterwards, if the client wishes, we can do it. As you say, it's a question of practicality!
Christine : And yes you are right! In the end it's great the way you designed it 🙂

- Possibility to anchor several blocks to move them "grouped". I didn't see it, maybe it exists?

Badsender : Indeed, it is not possible at this time. It is noted, we will improve that! However, it is possible to change the style of all the blocks at the same time by clicking on these pictos: . If you click on the picto representing several blocks, you change the style of all the blocks. If you click on the icon representing a single block, you change the style of the selected block.

Christine : I hadn't seen this option ! I wonder if we can change in one time the dominants linked to the graphic charters (in my company, we have several "portal" sites with well defined colorimetries).

Badsender : That's what the builder is all about! Have you seen this drop-down list?

When you change the title, the graphic charts adapt automatically (header/footer/color of CTA...). In this demo example, we are in the press sector. But in your case, we could very well imagine a list of portal sites...

Christine YES! I can only agree and dream ... I can only imagine how much time my colleagues and I would save on design - putting the content back in focus. Because these preparatory steps take us away from the main purpose of the email. Design is important, but it should serve the content and not the other way around :/

- Change the orange skin color to a dark mode simply by clicking on a display option. I do like the fact that the BadSender atmosphere is preserved!

Badsender We will soon change the colors of the builder to be consistent with the site www.lepatron.email. So we will be + towards the blue...

Christine : Yes, the site is very well done. The idea of sewing is very original and when you think about it - it makes sense.

- That the appearance of the blocks - once dropped into the editing flow - differs from the block preview in the menu. You have to change the styles to get the same rendering as on the proposed choice.

Need help?

Reading content isn't everything. The best way is to talk to us.

Badsender Good point! I'll make a note of it.

- Mobile" display mode: I didn't understand that it was on the right :/ and that the "zigzag" of the border is not a bug. Some blocks are sticking out of this scallop on the right... do the blocks I chose not 'pass' in mobile format?

Badsender All blocks before being delivered to the tool are tested via emailonacid in more than 70 different webmails and email clients. We do a code maintenance every 6 months so all the blocks look good on mobile and tablet. The zig zag is not a bug, it is a demarcation style between the mobile format on the right and the central format. What is not a bug but is not normal though, is what you see in the center. We should leave the editing format. We'll fix it!

- An advanced storage mode for images, the ability to make a tree structure and add tags to them for example - same for templates.

Badsender There are 2 levels of image galleries. 1 for the email you are creating and 1 for the whole template. This allows you to share the visuals with other members of your team. You can create a bank of images, pictos... and find it as soon as you create an email from the template.

Christine : I didn't understand that each email created has "its own gallery"! This is really useful! On our routing tool, we have to create folders and maintain a semblance of order when there are several of us using it, it's quite complicated.

- Surprised that you didn't dare to integrate specific typographies - with a dedicated ftp if necessary

Badsender : Hum... technically we can do it. Afterwards we always advise to use 'web safe' fonts because some webmails/FAIs misinterpret specific typographies. When, despite our recommendations, we still have to set up a specific font for a client (because the client is the boss ;-)), we always make sure to set up a replacement 'safe web' font that will be displayed on email clients that do not interpret the special font. And again it's risky because the size differs from one font to another...

Christine I agree with you.

- Spelling error at "GRAND ENTRETIENT "on the "blocks" menu

Badsender That will be corrected, thank you.

That's it for tonight, I'll come back to this test with a little hindsight.

Good evening 🙂 and again thank you and bravo, it is TOP your builder!

Thanks to you

If you need an email creation tool, don't hesitate, it's here! I go to Le Patron.
