Why this choice?

For this month of October, I've selected the welcome e-mail from La Corneille - a young medium dedicated to the living world. This choice was made for several reasons, even if - in my opinion - there's a lot of work to be done on authentication:

  • Design e-mail :
    • Simple and effective: on desktop or mobile. Plus, dark mode displays well!
  • E-mail scenario :
    • Welcome e-mail: admittedly, this is not a double opt-in, but it does at least validate the e-mail address of the newly registered person.
  • E-mail strategy :
    • The why / raison d'être: it's not me who says it, but La Corneille '. Well, it's a free bi-monthly newsletter 100% to find out the latest news on biodiversity and how to protect it (cool, isn't it?). but not only ' But La Corneille is also a young media dedicated to the living and a duo of buddies driven by the same wonder for nature!
    • Advice given: Add to address book, receive in correct Gmail tab (not sure about promo)...
    • Theme vs. frequency: The tone is set... We wonder what we'll get from them (actu of biodiversity, interviews, discovery of flora and fauna and a few surprises...) and how often (every other Wednesday).

Despite all these good things, there are still a few points to optimize your e-mail:

  • E-mail authentication this is the big optimization point! No dedicated domain name (what a shame!) used for La Corneille's e-mails (there is indeed a website with a dedicated domain name), which leads to a DMARC validation at Fail (the MailFrom is a shared Mailchimp domain, the From belongs to SciencePo...). To be totally reviewed, bearing in mind that the SciencePo domain has a DMARC quarantine record at 5%. If it went to 100%, their e-mails would end up as spam (or not at all if Dmarc went to Reject)... And that would be a shame!
  • CTA The only visible button is not clickable, as there is no link on it (See previous letters).
  • Mobile version : There's just a problem with the alignment of the buttons linking to the social networks (but I'm quibbling here!).
  • Pre-header It would have been interesting to add, in continuity with the object (Welcome to La Corneille!) a brief introduction to why La Corneille (The free bi-monthly 100% newsletter for the latest news on biodiversity).

In any case, if you love nature, don't hesitate to subscribe to our newsletter. La Corneille 🙂
