The SNCD publishes the 2013 figures for email routing

As every year, the SNCD (National Union of Direct Communication) publishes the figures of the email routing activity of its members. Among the 18 SNCD members who participated in this study, we find the main French routers, namely: 1000mercis, Adobe, Cabestan, Contactlab, Dolist.net, Edatis, Emailstrategie, Emarsys, Epsilon, Experian, Iroquois, Sendinblue, MessageBusiness, Rapidmail, Sarbacane, Smart Focus, Splio and Teradata.

Key figures

  • Volume of emails routed: 133 billionThis represents an increase of 5.4% over 2012.
  • Turnover: 95 million eurosa slight increase of 0.64%
  • The number of clients : 20433This is an increase of 28.5% over 2012.

Note that these figures are valid for the 18 members of the SNCD who agreed to respond to the survey and not for the entire French market. Nevertheless, the figures for the French market as a whole are relatively close to these figures since few major players are absent from this list. Among the missing players, we can note for example: MailPerformance, Mailjet, ExactTarget and some others.

What are the lessons learned?

Looking at the figures of the previous years, we can notice a slowdown in the growth of the sent emails. But who says growth slowdown says growth! So email continues to seduce more and more, and we can see this thanks to the explosion in the number of customers in the sector, more than 28% of growth between 2012 and 2013.

In the background, this means that the average volume per advertiser is decreasing. This most certainly indicates an increase in target quality.

Regarding revenues, the SNCD indicates that routers are finding it increasingly difficult to isolate routing figures from consulting and production activities. Indeed, in recent years, email platforms have diversified their offers enormously by proposing data mining, graphic creation, consulting and in some cases full service.

About the SNCD The Syndicat National de la Communication Directe is an association of direct marketing and customer relationship experts. The association has a role of defense of the actors of this industry and defines the framework and uses of these professions. Today, the SNCD has 145 members including marketing service providers, brokers and file owners, CRM and emailing specialists, consulting agencies, integrators, etc.
