Klaviyo baby!

This is my 1st post on this blog so I'm introducing myself!
I'm Jonathan André, nomadic emailing consultant and Klaviyo expert. In life, I like entrepreneurship, climbing, traveling, good food... in short, the list would be too long and I'm not sure you'd be interested. On the other hand, I do help e-tailers segment their contacts and automate their emailing strategy through Klaviyo.

Today, I'm here to tell you about an emailing tool that is starting to make some noise in France, I named Klaviyo !

klaviyo

Founded in 2012 in Boston, Klaviyo quickly made a name for itself for specializing in email marketing for e-commerce. It is a tool that integrates very easily with e-commerce platforms. The cool thing about Klaviyo is that it clearly eases the burden on marketers with ready-made targets and scenarios, while still giving the ability to customize the criteria to move towards a tailored strategy.

As a Klaviyo Partner and Badsender consultant specializing in Klaviyo, I thought it would be interesting to present to you the benefits I see in this tool.

2-click integration with e-commerce platforms

Unlike some routing tools, Klaviyo offers fast integration with e-commerce platforms, such as Shopify, Prestashop, Woocommerce...

For Shopify, for example, all you have to do is click on the integration tab, put in your site's URL, and select "collect emails" via Shopify. It's that simple and Klaviyo will be up and running in less than a minute, really.

Integrated pop-ups and registration page

This is really interesting! Few routing tools offer pop-up management!
The pop-ups are very easy to build with a drag and drop system. You have the ability to set the delay of the pop-up, the devices where the pop-up should appear, but most importantly you can target people based on their location, URL and also based on lists and segments.

Ready-to-use targets and scenarios

Pre-designed targeting... but customizable!

Klaviyo stores and collects all your customers' data; when they look at a product, use a promo code, place an order, are active on the website, etc.
Klaviyo offers a range of pre-concussion targets by default, ready to be called upon.
Examples:

  • Win Back Opportunities Contacts who have purchased at least once (on Shopify) and have not purchased in the last 6 months
  • Potential Purchasers Contacts who have either seen a product in the last 30 days, clicked on an email, or have been active on the website AND never purchased
  • Repeat buyers : contacts who have purchased multiple times
  • VIP Customers contacts who ordered more than 5 times on the e-commerce site

You can easily modify each target and play with the criteria. For example, if you want to modify the VIP Customers target by modifying 5 by 3 and add a notion of time like in the last 3 months, it is totally possible.

Here we could make them an offer on this collection to try to re-engage them. Sky is the limit as the saying goes.

Pre-designed scenarios... but customizable!

Klaviyo offers a library of predefined scenarios such as a welcome series, cart abandonment, cross-selling... The flows are already set up, you just need to activate them or modify the criteria.

Need help?

Reading content isn't everything. The best way is to talk to us.

The flows are created by drag and drop and you can set many parameters such as: the time and day of sending emails, divisions to better segment your scenarios, filters to better target readers, create A/B tests.... On top of that, you have 5 trigger options, which leaves you with an almost infinite number of possibilities. Here again, you can let your creativity run wild.

In this example, we want to make a special abandoned cart flow for the bra and crop-top collection. Here we have a split between the product categories and then a few days later we send an email with a promotion for people who have never bought and a simple reminder email for existing customers

There's even a little AI in there!

Instead of using complicated calculations to figure out when customers will disengage, how much your customers will spend this year... Klaviyo has implemented a lot of "Predictive Analytics".

Here, this customer has already spent 306€ and should spend 119€ for the year N+1 (predicted CLV), his risk of never ordering again is rather low (33%) and his average basket is 51€.

Klaviyo offers other predictions, for example, to know the gender of the person (very useful when you want to segment your database into male/female), the number of orders a contact is expected to make this year... All this data can be used to segment your audience and make highly targeted marketing campaigns.

Product reco very easy to implement

Personalized product recommendation is another feature I love. In fact, in your emails, you can integrate product blocks with personalized recommendations based on your customers' preferences. To put it simply, Klaviyo will recommend different products based on your customers' tastes.

Other more classic but interesting modules

Customizable analysis reports

Klaviyo offers analytics reports that you can fully customize based on the KPIs you are interested in. Again, Klaviyo has predefined templates that give a good overview of your performance. There is also a benchmark function that allows you to compare yourself with other e-tailers in your industry. That too, you don't see in every tool 😉

A pretty good email builder

Well, let's face it, it's not at the level of the email builder ThePatron ? but Klaviyo has a rather intuitive and flexible email builder module.
The builder offers all the basic functionalities such as text, image, product blocks, columns, product recommendation blocks...
Klaviyo offers a library of pre-designed templates that can be reused and modified to fit your brand.

Many integrations available

If there's one thing that may seem trivial, it's the compatibility and integration of Klaviyo with other e-commerce applications. You can for example integrate with review applications to create scenarios after evaluation, connect with Typeform to collect data from your surveys, integrate with Facebook to directly target your audience with ads... A big plus, because having a developer at hand is not given to everyone.

Unfortunately, I couldn't list all the features of Klaviyo, because the article would be too long (and you probably have other things to worry about?).

If you have an e-commerce I can only recommend you to use this tool (you will thank me later?). Do not hesitate to ask your questions about this tool, I will be happy to answer them.
By the way, if you have a project on Klaviyo, do not hesitate to contact Badsender ! We can help you as soon as Migration from your old tool to Klaviyo and for the implementation of the whole strategy through hours of coaching !
