Why this choice?

Our choices are not always positive! And that's the case with this email from SNCF Connect. If I like the beginning of the email (I can easily find my order confirmation, information and purchase data...)I'm much more dubious about the rest.

  • First of all, the email design The width of the email is 700px (at least in theory, since in the end the email is much wider due to a problem in the HTML code). 700px is a bit too much for my taste, since it implies that the email will be cut off horizontally in some email preview windows. What's more, some text contrasts are clearly unsatisfactory. (This seems to me to be the basis for applying all the good accessibility recommendations for a company like SNCF).. Finally, I have the impression that a lot of information "floats" in the white body of the email.
  • For HTML codeI also have a number of reservations, as it seems far too heavy for this type of email (and for the established design). Errors in the HTML code also create rendering problems. (pictograms not aligned vertically, breaks in the width of the email, etc.)..
  • Finally, on contentI think this type of transactional email needs to be lightened up. The idea isn't to present all the additional services and content you can offer. (SNCF alert app, means of transport)but just what's needed, with a few pertinent additions (SNCF Connect app, Print tickets...).
