As a fan of vintage decor and little nuggets, it was only natural for me to subscribe to Selency's newsletter.
What I like:
- I admit it: the object intrigued me, the preheader tooso I opened the email. I think it's very smart! Of course, this technique only works (on me at least) with this little touch of humor, and only once.
- The design is simple and effective, in complete harmony with the website. The search bar (shown here with a link to the site) and a more streamlined version of the menu are also featured.
- The mosaic block is ideal for highlighting items.
- The writing and the tone, unique to the brand! I love it.
To be reviewed in my opinion:
- I'm a bit disappointed that the main paragraph comes in so low... especially as I think the content is great and full of pep (as is often the case with their NL).
- The font used (Helvetica 300, so Light) for the articles doesn't render the best on my computer. Too bad for PC readers... To be corrected quickly to improve legibility 😉 The Selency team must be working on Macs, as the font displays perfectly on this environment.
- The central title of the mosaic is an image, and could be managed as text, even if it's a positive point: the alt is filled in.
- The App block isn't really worked out and strangely comes just after the customer review, which is admittedly posted from the App Store, but I would have worked the block to link the elements better. Perhaps by adding a title like "You too can join us on the App to find your next favorites".
To sum up, well done to the editor's back-up: I opened it, liked the content, and even bought a jug in barbotine 😉
