After Google Wave, after Google Plus, is Google making a new attempt to break into the social world by betting ... on email? That's what this new Google initiative makes me think of, using email to create a world that is very close to what social networks have to offer.

"Inbox by Gmail" is a mix of Google Now, the Gmail categorization introduced a year and a half ago (Promotions, Notifications, ...), a contextualized presentation of each type of email (a bank statement will not be displayed in the same way as a purchase confirmation or an email from a close friend), the creation of tasks, ...

Although it was created by Gmail, the system is not limited to Gmail, it will be quite possible to add a POP or IMAP account. Apps are available for Android and iOS, and the application is also available on the web via Chrome. For now, the system is not yet open, you can now request an invitation via the email address inbox@google.com.

    Indeed the video is not very telling. It would be pretty funny if the app handles responsive 🙂
