We use Matomo with anonymized audience tracking and that's cool.

Another reason is that... URIs are very, very resistant to "aging". For example, your link at the bottom of the article...
Broken: lemon press changed its URI. So I follow the link and poof, home page. Search from this home page and I find the text in question. It's already not funny.
When you have the same thing with an aggregator, it becomes really annoying. No more feed, that's all. You have to go and see why and discover the possible new thread. In the "one click" world, I don't want to know I want it to work, it's not at all mainstream that, indeed 😉
But it's "the fault of" those who often break uri's 😉
